Good morning, friends! I hope ya’ll had a great Monday and enjoyed the Eclipse mania! I don’t know about you, but I was a little underwhelmed! It was neat and I am not sure what I was expecting, but I guess something more! I’ve always enjoyed reading Day In the Life posts that other bloggers have done, so I wanted to do one of our own! I am also being a tad selfish because I want to be able to look back on these and remember everything! The day I’m blogging about was actually yesterday! I’ll also note that yesterday was a “trial run” of what we are hoping our new morning routine will be! The only change is that in two weeks, Millie Cate will go to preschool two mornings a week! (Cue tears here- I am SO not ready for this)
5 am- My alarm goes off and I lay in bed for 5 or so minutes and look at my phone to try to wake up. I also go ahead and throw on my workout clothes and a little CC Cream and mascara, so I am halfway presentable for the morning! I don’t normally put on makeup before working out, but I feel like this is just going to make our mornings a little less choatic to have it done before my mommy duties offically start!
7:00 am– I’m home. Bill has fed the girls and gotten Brynlee dressed. We finish up getting ready and get everything together. I always pack her bag and lunch(which I’ve just remembered I haven’t done yet, so I am going to run downstairs and do it now- which also probably means this post will not get finished tonight like I wanted because I am exhausted!) Then we are out the door! Millie Cate wants to be JUST LIKE big sister so she insists on her book bag this morning too!
7:45 am- We’re in the carpool line at school! This our first morning using carpool and Brynlee is so excited! I’m not going to lie, it broke my heart to see her get out of the car and walk into school. She did it last year at pre-school, but this is so different! A middle schooler got her out of the car and then a teacher met her and helped her to her class.
8:10 am- We’re back home. I eat breakfast and knock out chores and a few other things around the house. We play with ALL the toys and Millie Cate is a big fan of having the toys and mommy to herself. Around 11, we head upstairs and get real clothes on before we head back out for the day.
11:45 am- We are out the door again. Is it just me, or does it seem like the poor second kid spends so much more time in the car? We had to drop off a few Beautycounter samples before we went to see Mrs, Jamie for Millie Cate’s first haircut!
12:15 pm– Millie Cate’s first haircut! I was DREADING this! I’m not sure why!!! She will be 2 in like 2 weeks and also starts school next week, so she is clearly getting to be a big girl and not my baby anymore. But to be honest, I still baby her because she is my last. I just kept telling myself that at least it was Jamie cutting her hair (she is the only person that touches the Allen girl’s hair and she is THE BEST!). She could not have done any better, she loved looking at herself in the mirror and it was no surprise she was all smiles the whole time! She was rewarded with a sucker after her little trim and Mrs. Jamie even sent a sucker for her other favorite little Allen!
12:30 pm- Back in the car and off to Cat’s house (Cat is my memaw, but the girls call her Cat). She keeps Millie Cate for me while I grab some lunch and go to Brynlee’s school to volunteer for the eclipse!)
2:20 pm- We have seriously been obsessed with Brynlee’s school so far! I mean it has only been three days, but I’m hard to please so that is saying something! They did a whole thing for the eclipse and had late dismissal so the kids could watch it. I went to help with Brynlee’s class and was pretty much able to spend the whole time with my big girl watching the eclipse. She thought it was neat, but wasn’t super impressed. Her whole class actually kept the glasses on, and I was shocked. I never thought a group of 4/5 year olds would keep the glasses on for that long! It was so special to spend one on one time with my girl for something like this and for it to be at her new school that she’ll be at for the next 10ish years(I guess my math is right, she will be there through 8th grade!)
3:00 pm- Pictures will be pretty much non existent for this time frame because it was a little chaotic! We leave school and go pick Milie Cate up. We visit with Cat for a few minutes and the girls have a snack. On the way home, the girls fall asleep. So thankful for a few quiet minutes. I decided to sit in the driveway for a little bit to let them nap. I can’t decide if that is a good idea or a bad idea because they woke up SCREAMING! Millie Cate was screaming because I think she is cutting her two-year molars. Brynlee was screaming because Millie Cate was screaming. We get inside and after 15 minutes I get them both settled and happy. I went ahead and started cooking dinner. I didn’t cook what I had planned on because I realized we had already eaten all of our spinach and we needed some for the recipe I was doing, so we decided on an easy throw together dinner.
6:15 pm- The girls play while I clean the kitchen. Fun (or maybe not so fun) fact- I HAVE to clean the kitchen right after dinner. I don’t know why, but if my kitchen is not cleaned I feel like my whole house is a disaster!
7 pm– Millie Cate is off to bed! We are all so tired, we decided to head upstairs and let Brynlee watch her iPad in our bed while I start my nightly skincare routine and get my clothes out for the next day.
7:30 pm- Brynlee’s turn for bed! Over the summer, we got in a horrible habit of letting her sleep in a palette on our floor. We knew we had to break it, so we decided a reward system would work best for her. When she gets 30 stickers for staying in her bed all night, she gets the Shopkin’s bedding she has been dying for. Another fun fact- before having kids and even after while Brynlee was still young, I said NO CHARACTER stuff for bedding, clothing(they only have 1 or 2 dresses that mommy DID NOT buy), etc. While I have still held strong on the clothing, except for jammies, I am caving on the bedding! I feel bad since she has to wear a uniform and can’t even use the book bag that she was so excited about picking out for school this year that I wanted her to be able to pick out something! I think this was what she needed! She is so proud of her 6 stickers that she has earned and has shown this to everyone that has stepped foot into our front door!
8:00 pm– Done with bedtime and I start working on this post. Around 8:30 is when I remember that I forgot to pack her lunch and snack and knew I didn’t want to do to it in the morning, so I went back down and did that. I came back up and decided I was just DONE for the day!
9:00 pm or maybe a little earlier– LIGHTS OUT!
I hope this wasn’t completely boring to you!! Have a fantastic Tuesday! Millie Cate has another first today! I’ll post pictures on Instagram, so make sure you follow along!
I also decided to link up with Jennifer today for Daily Dime!
